If I can't sleep, I turn to meditation

meditation
Meditation. It is the key to falling asleep. I have TERRIBLE insomnia and so over the years I've taught myself how to relax. In essence - turning off my brain - to get to the magical *drifting off* point. Generally, I can get to sleep using that method within a half an hour and usually get a solid 3 -4 hours of rest.

When I wake up in the middle of the night, I look at the clock and make a decision based on what time it is. If it is after 4 there's really no use in trying to get back to sleep as it will take a while to get back "down" and I will end up feeling like a zombie for the rest of the day. If it is before 4, I pull myself back into a meditative state, and hope it doesn't take too long to get back to sleep.

I'm usually one of those people that can function on about 4 hours and be okay. Less than that, I get cranky. More than that, I get tired.

Naps? Forget about 'em! If I sleep during the day, my body protests and I can't sleep at night. My doctor has suggested medication but I don't want to be reliant on sleep aids so here I sit. Awake. Awake. Awake.

My new career: life coach

I think I would start over as a life coach or therapist / counselor. I don't want to prescribe medication or diagnose illnesses but I enjoy talking to people and helping them help themselves. I think a life coach would be more up my alley but you never know.

I enjoy what I do now but the idea of starting over and reinventing is exciting too. I also don't feel like what I do has as much of an impact on the community as I'd like it to. It is fun and that is important but it would be great to be able to do something fun and worthwhile for a change of pace.

There'll be a CARB-FEST on my Thanksgiving plate

My perfect Thanksgiving plate includes

Turkey
Love to eat turkey 'cause its good. Love to eat turkey like a good girl should.

Cornbread Dressing
Cornbread dressing is the quintessential item that makes a holiday a holiday. Slather on some giblet gravy and you are good to go!

Giblet Gravy
Perfectly paired with cornbread dressing and turkey.

Corn casserole
Corn, cornbread, sour cream, and cheese baked in the oven for an hour - can't go wrong

English Pea Salad
I heart peas, cheese, mayo, pickles and onion - throw all that in a bowl and mix it up - it is an amazing addition to a holiday meal.

I do most of my shopping between Thanksgiving & Christmas

In the past I've done most of my shopping on Black Friday but this year, I didn't have the money nor the desire to get out with all the crazies and marathon shop. So this year, I'll be doing some shopping here and there until Christmas Eve to get everyone's gifts.
